Training

I started this blog in 2018, as a first attempt at making tech a truly better place. IDK if tech has been listening that much – 🤪 – but I am delighted that some want to hear me talking about responsible tech all day long!

Frugal AI: State of the Art is the first ever dedicated to artificial intelligence from GreenIT.fr, France’s digital sustainability experts. This one-day course looks at the true impacts of AI today – think data centres’ electricity consumption tripling this decade – and above all how you can reduce them. How? By leaning on the three pillars of green IT – leveraging more sustainable data centres, hardware and software – and above all going against the “bigger is better” obsession of OpenAI and co. Launched in September 2026, the course has already attracted trainees from Sopra Steria, Groupama, LeSaffre and more. More information here ; et en français, ici.

Responsible AI: State of the Art is about the social and environmental aspects, of course; but there are many more risks your organisation may have to face because of AI. Indeed, the hype train has been steaming ahead so fast since ChatGPT changed everything late 2022 that few have taken a step back to check if they’re actually ‘doing’ AI responsibly. Case in point: most companies have no form of AI governance, despite the majority of their staff using shadow AI. Whence the need for this examination of the ten greatest AI-related risks, how to mitigate them, and then how to build your company’s Responsible AI Charter; so you can anticipate risks, and minimise their unwanted consequences moving forwards.

This two day course, also with GreenIT.fr, launches in April 2026; find out more about it here… (et en français ici !)

The above courses’ content is adaptable to meet the needs of specific audiences and companies. I also accompany companies and organisations on Responsible & Frugal AI – Groupe La Poste and the UK’s Association for Science Discovery Centres to name just two – so feel free to reach out to james [at] bettertech [dot] blog to find out more.

Feel free, of course, to dig deeper into these topics here on BetterTech.blog:
